Three September Events Cause Residents of Claremont Towers to Fall in Love with Autumn

The onset of fall brings seasonal fun to those living at the luxury apartment complex

The month of September is often met with a sigh of relief from many people. The dog days of summer are finally over, and parents rejoice as the kids are once again sent off to school. September means the start of college and professional football, not to mention the heating up of the playoff race in Major League Baseball. While the holiday season is on the horizon, stretching from Halloween to New Year’s Day, a number of September events found nearby are cause for those living at Claremont Towers in Hillsborough, New Jersey, to fall in love with the fall season.

Of course, one of the obvious reasons why the 39,702 individuals living in Hillsborough, New Jersey, look forward to September is a cooler temperature. (1) The average high temperature for the township drops from the 85º found in July and the 83º found in August to a much more comfortable 76º in September. (2) Cooler temperatures allow residents of Claremont Towers to enjoy the great outdoors in relative comfort.

A great location to visit during the month of September is the historic community of Lambertville, New Jersey. This community is one of the oldest in the state as it was settled back in 1705. (3) George Washington visited Lambertville three times during the Revolutionary War, and he once set up headquarters in the John Holcombe House in 1778. The cooler autumn air allows for some enjoyable outdoor activities for residents of Claremont Towers, such as bicycle riding along the canal towpath, as well as tubing, rafting, and kayaking along the riverfront. Adults and children can learn some local history, not to mention aquatic science, while riding on the Splash Steamboat, a replica of an 1880 sternwheeler. The ship can also be hired for private events. Another interesting thing to do in Lambertville is to visit the historic Marshall House, the home of James Wilson Marshall, the man who discovered gold in California in 1848 and who was related by marriage to John Hart, a signer of the Declaration of Independence. The whole family can visit the Howell Living History Farm, which takes people back to the farming days of 1900 through reenactments. The farm has been the site of agricultural activity since the 1730s. (4)

September kicks off with a bang for those living at Claremont Towers with the Scandinavian Fest held in Hackettstown, New Jersey, on September 1st. (5) This all-day event is a celebration of the history, customs, and ethnic variety of Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden. This is one of the largest Nordic events in North America and features live music, arts and crafts, folk dancing, lectures, medieval combat reenactments, ethnic food, a display of Viking artifacts, and even reindeer.

An offbeat choice for September fun is attending The Vampire Diaries and The Originals official convention. This event takes place in nearby Whippany, New Jersey, from September 6th through the 9th. (6) Residents of Claremont Towers who are fans of the hit CW shows can rub elbows with fellow fans while attending panels and getting autographs and photos with stars of the shows. Some of the notable guests include Joseph Morgan, Ian Somerhalder, Paul Wesley, Matthew Davis, Daniel Gillies, Michael Trevino, Steven R. McQueen, Summer Fontana, Riley Voelkel, Torrance Coombs, Chase Coleman, and Micah Parker. Stars Micah Parker and Chase Coleman are hosting several events during the convention, such as a karaoke night as well as a fun session of playing games while chomping down on pizza.

Cheryl Chambers of Claremont Towers says, “September is such a great month as the fall season finally begins. Luckily for residents, there are so many events and activities taking place in September that it’s hard to pick which ones to go to. I love visiting historic Lambertville and partaking of some of the outdoor fun to be found along the riverfront. The cool September temperature makes it quite comfortable to go rafting or spending the day at the Howell Living History Farm. I know quite a few residents of Claremont Towers regularly attend the Scandinavian Fest. It’s always great to experience another culture through its food, music, crafts, and dances. However, the one event in September I’m really looking forward to is the official convention for The Vampire Diaries and The Originals. I’ve been hooked on the two shows ever since The Vampire Diaries came on the air back in 2009. Who doesn’t love sexy vampires? I plan on getting every star’s autograph as well as taking advantage of the photo ops. Overall, September is going to be a blast.” (7)
