Residents of Claremont Towers Bask in Christmas Cheer

A plethora of holiday events can be found close to the luxury apartment complex

No holiday is as joyful as Christmas, as exemplified by the saying of peace on earth and goodwill towards men. It does not matter if one is celebrating the birth of Jesus, lighting the menorah during Hanukkah, or just enjoying cherished time with friends and family, the holiday season is a time where everyone seeks to be closer to their fellow man and be of good cheer. Those living at Claremont Towers in Hillsborough, New Jersey, are fortunate that they do not have to travel far to enjoy the Christmas spirit as many holiday events can be found close at hand to the apartment complex.

The vast majority of the 39,832 inhabitants of Hillsborough, New Jersey, consider the Christmas holiday season to be the highlight of the year. (1) Trees are put up and decorated, businesses and schools are festooned with holiday decorations, and a number of families seek to outdo each other with elaborate outdoor light displays.

The residents of Claremont Towers do not have to venture far to begin enjoying holiday festivities. The township of Hillsborough is having its Christmas tree lighting ceremony on December 6th. (2) This event of family fun begins at 6pm and features live music, a fire pit, train rides, characters from Frozen, and a visit from Santa himself. The tree lighting will happen at 7pm. On December 12th, people interested in helping a worthy charity can take part in the Wreath Stroll & Annual Holiday Party at All American Assisted Living. Individuals can decorate a holiday wreath and donate it, and the wreaths will be raffled off with all the proceeds going to the Pets for the Elderly charity.

A popular entertainment option for those living at Claremont Towers is the nearby Branchburg Sports Complex. The facility is hosting a Family Holiday Party on December 22nd for children ages 8 and under. (3) This event allows attendees to enjoy the complex’s PlayMaze, bounce houses, games, and activities. Naturally, Santa will be paying the children a visit.

People interested in celebrating the season with music have a number of options to choose from. One musical event is the Joyful Sounds of the Season concert by the Raritan Valley Choral Society on December 8th. (4) This concert features music by Mozart, John Rutter, Bach, and Charpentier. The group will also sing Irish, German, Hebrew, English, and Catalan folk melodies. On December 14th, the Jersey Harmony Chorus will put on a concert of holiday favorites sung in the barbershop style. (5)

Families residing at Claremont Towers who wish to cut down their own Christmas tree have a number of farms to choose from. One such location is the Anne-Ellen Christmas Tree Farm & Shop in Manalapan. People can choose from over 50,000 trees on the 100-acre farm to grace their home during the holiday season. (6) Individuals can cut down the tree of their choice or have an employee of the farm do it. Besides getting a tree, visitors can enjoy some tasty food, feed the farm animals, and purchase beautiful ornaments. Pictures can be taken with Santa when he visits on the weekends.

Cheryl Chambers of Claremont Towers says, “Christmas is my favorite time of the year. Seeing young children get excited when they see Santa, helping decorate the tree, and gazing at the wrapped presents under the tree is just a joy. Personally, I indulge and watch a ton of those romantic holiday films that Hallmark runs the entire month. There are also a lot of fun events for those living at Claremont Towers to help them get into the holiday spirit. The local tree lighting ceremony is always fun, and I am looking forward to listening to the Raritan Valley Choral Society sing some holiday classics. Those looking for a fresh tree to decorate their home can choose from a good number of farms that offer a variety of trees, such as the Canaan Fir, Blue Spruce, Norway Spruce, Douglas Fir, and White Pine. The Hillsborough Township Volunteer Fire Company #3 is having a breakfast with Santa event on December 7th. Another food event is the Pancakes with Santa event by the Raritan Valley Mothers of Multiples organization on December 8th where a portion of the proceeds will be given to the Brain Injury Alliance Adopt-A-Family Holiday Gift Drive. Overall, there’s a lot of holiday fun to be had in and around Hillsborough for the entire family.” (7)
